2: The Military Oversees and Protects the country's land

While the military is dependent upon the budgetary apparatus in place by any given country's administrative arm of government, the military is, to my mind, independent of governmental control. It's power comes from the nations who recognize it as the legitimate organizer of a system of government that is to be set up to govern its region of land. It is instructive to note that in the case of establishing government in the English colonies in the land now known as the United States, the leaders of the "provisional government" were strongly influenced by their English training and background. Moreover, the first President in the country was himself drawn from the military ranks of General.  It was fortuitous that as President he was involved in the newly founded government, while also performing duties in the military that was responsible for protecting the land and its inhabitants therein.

My modus operandi is to get things done!

But how is that possible? Ever since I've gotten into being a political researcher, I've kept the same modus operandi: do something that makes progress toward my goals in life: i.e., be alive as long as I can; do what I can do contribute to the ultimate goals I am pursuing beyond self-preservation--namely, those of the preservation of the human species and peace and the well-being among us living. Concretely, I must apprise the situation I am confronting and see what I can do that with others' help (which I will solicit) we can work together toward the ends-in-view.  If I am talking to my health aide to lay out what interactions we will have today to realize these goals specifically, I try to illicit from her what she's willing to do that will help me achieve steps toward my well-being.  "Are you in the mood to go shopping for groceries?" I might start off.  Then, we proceed together by my enumerating other acts that  I've envisioned for the day to achieve...

1: Who are we, anyway?

We're a member of the human race: homo sapiens .  We humans in the course of our history have developed the capability to pass on what we learn from our experiences to future generations through a vehicle known as knowledge .   In a recent talk at Brookings, the President of Bell Corp. put what is company is all about succinctly (I'm paraphrasing): "Bell is an aggregate group of technical people doing a job important to our country's defense."  That's it!  Specifically, each makes use of the knowledge he has gained to bring about the military weapon that protects us 24/7: each contributes his abilities to complete the particular defense project.    We're like that.  Our most fundamental project is to preserve the human race .  Our society as one identifiable group among all others inhabiting the planet Earth has preserved the knowledge gained by our predecessors to be passed along to those of the now generation through educational institutio...

My reason for going philosophical

It's actually due to discussions I've had with some close friends who desire that I should return to my roots, so as to leave a legacy in the annals of biographical history. For, the theme of my approach is to see the future that lies before us human beings to better our chances to endure as a people in a very hostile universe.  Just take a look at the pictures sent back from our probes in space, if you're unconvinced how stacked are our chances for the endurance of our race in the scheme of things transpiring "out there." So in the spirit of preserving the human race, I re-enter the field I really have never left; and that is, PHILOSOPHY.
